“Atelierul Digital pentru Programatori” is an initiative made by Google that aims to create opportunities for young people and students who want to learn how to code, but also for those who want to become entrepreneurs in the tech field.
These activities are carried out in three hubs built by Google in partnership with three universities from Romania: Bucharest University, Technical University from Cluj-Napoca and Polytechnic University from Timisoara.
I am very excited, honored and grateful to be part of this initiative as a trainer of the Android Fundamentals module in Bucharest and I must to confess that it was an awesome experience.
I had the opportunity to meet 50 smart students and eager to learn how to develop Android apps. I was really inspired by their perseverance and by the happiness from their eyes when the lines of code started to have a shape inside of a mobile application.
Each week of the module came up with new concepts and code challenges. I tried to help them to build an application that contains stylized UI elements, an API integration by using Retrofit, Firebase authentication, offline support by using Room and finally they learned how to publish an app on Google Play.
The course ended wonderful, with a Demo Day. The final project presentations were amazing! I’m very proud of them! 🙂
It was fun! We learned new things, we made debug when things did not work the way we wanted, we worked together and I was part of their journey in the Android universe.
Thank you! 🙂
